2025 OHYA Lionfish Swim Academy - Stroke Clinic

Is your swimmer ready for something beyond swim lessons but not quite ready for a competitive swim team? Do you wish there was a program to bridge the gap that focuses on technique and keeps your swimmer in the water? Then we encourage you to join our OHYA Swim Academy!

Overview:
The Swim Academy is a stroke clinic that focuses on stroke development and other competitive swimming skills with a focus on technical development, learning the basics of competitive swimming, and becoming comfortable in a team environment. This program differs from swim lessons as it is designed for swimmers who want to strengthen their swim skills without the commitment of a year round swim team. Some swimming experience is necessary. (Summer club swim team, school swim team, etc.) Our stroke clinics are taught by lifeguard-certified swim coaches and former competitive swimmers. This program is designed for children 8 years old and up. There are no makeup classes if a session is missed. The Swim Academy stroke clinic will be held at the Oak Hills High School pool. Space is limited, and a waitlist is available.

Session DatesSpring & Summer:
Two sessions are available, each held on Sunday mornings for four consecutive weeks. Swimmers will attend one 45-minute lesson per week, for a total of four lessons per session and the cost is $100.
Spring Session: May 4, 11, 18, 25 (4 lessons total)
Summer Session: June 1, 8, 15, 22 (4 lessons total)

Class Structure:

Student to Teacher ratios will not exceed 8:1. Swim classes are structured as competitive swimming instruction with a focus on starts, turns, learning sets and stroke perfection.

Swimmers must meet the minimum skill requirements to participate. If a swimmer does not meet the prerequisite, we reserve the right to remove them from the program for their safety. In such cases, a full refund will be provided.

Ages: 8-12 years old
MUST be able to swim 1 lap (25 yards) unassisted without stopping. Organized swimming experience is preferred, but being able to comfortably swim for extended periods of time is necessary. This class will introduce technical development, progression of skills, and introduce the team environment of
competitive swimming.

Ages: 12+ up years old
MUST be able to swim 2 laps unassisted without stopping. Organized swimming experience is NECESSARY (please contact if clarification is needed). This is meant to progress the swimmers’ technique, not teach the strokes. Learning the team aspects such as reading and conducting workouts will also be emphasized.
